WE OFFER THE BEST HAND-MADE LOG HOUSES
The enterprise ODO SPP “Promtexresurs” deals with production and exporting to European countries of log hand-made houses. Within the past eight years we delivered our houses to Norway, Sweden, Austria, Hungary, France, Spain, Estonia, Latvia.
The technology of building log houses of wood angular bars (lafte) has been used in Scandinavian countries for more than a thousand years.
To manufacture our products we use pine wood. We take lumber 28-40cm in diameter and 12.5m long. Logs are sawn from two sides to make a bar (lafte) with a standard width 180 or 200mm. Each bar is of individual height ranging 270-380mm. In lafte production a natural narrowing of a log finds its use. The technology we apply allows a height differential along a log to be 1cm per every meter of length. After sawing a log is dried up to 20% humidity in a drying chamber and under a shed. For walls conjunction we use the technology of the “Norwegian lock” which has been widely used in Norway for several centuries. Norwegian lock provides a proper quality of log ties in adjacent corners. This is a kind of a self-wedging lock which ensures a faultless rigidity for the whole construction.
Even when dry the elements of adjacent corners get self locked under the gravity, which prevents deformation and torsion of logs. In addition, for better strength of walls and rigidity of the whole construction wall logs are fastened to each other by birch nagels (wooden nails). Logs are narrowing naturally, that’s why in hand-made houses each corner joint is performed individually with the use of special tools produced in Germany and Norway, this provides a high degree of precision and connection. We ensure no splitting in corners. Norwegian construction technology provides an even thickness all along the wall (200mm, the longitudinal groove being 150-170mm),while typical Russian technology allows a log thickness to vary, being minimal in corners, which is responsible for significant losses in warmth.
Due to the elements of traditional Norwegian raftering system the whole roof construction looks pleasantly from outside and shows high original ceilings inside. The raftering elements are made of long-cut spruce logs (up to 14m long) manually planed, the diameter of which after working depends on the size of the construction and makes up 300-400mm. In the middle of each log there is a longitudinal cut which is optimal for a log house to assume control over the formation of crackles parallel to the wall surface. Every overlying log hides this cut by its own groove. In logs connection a special carpenter’s tool “a liner” is used, which helps for the upper logs repeat the profile of the underlying one. Further on by means of an electric saw, a special ax and a hewer the necessary groove is made in each log. As a result an ideal connection between logs is reached, which keeps them tight even when get drier. A decrease in house settling is promoted by the enforced fastening during manufacture and assembling.
Each building (including a roofconstruction) is assembled in the assembly shop of the enterprise. Then the house is dissembled, all wall logs and roof elements are numbered and marked. After dissembling all wall logs are then again planed manually, this develops a high degree of smoothness and cleanliness of a surface. Then construction is packedfor transportation, fixedwith a tape and shipped for a customer.
As a house is made of a well worked wood (walls are planned manually) there is no need for additional planning and polishing, and the house is ready for living in almost immediately after its building. The natural wood texture has an effect of a special design on walls. A house is at once ready for the outside coating or painting, as dry wood of 20% humidity is used for its production. Coating or painting would improve water resistant properties of wood.
The principal quality differences of our industrial technologies:
1. Sawn wood is being dried up to 20% humidity. That is why there is no seasonal difference for felling (in winter or in summer). It will twice save the number of trucks needed for transporting.
2. “Norwegian Cross” technology that we use to connect walls in corners presents in itself a self locking conjunction which ensures a faultless rigidity for the whole construction. Tightly laying wall logs and self-wedged corners keep well connected and do not loosen or allow warmth losses even with time past.
3. The house settling is reduced which is promoted by enforced fastening of the construction during manufacture and assembling. The house is immediately ready for the outside painting or coating, as dry wood of 20% humidity is used for its production. This allows additional water resistance.
There is no need for a year’s waiting before humidity removes from the inner volume, and you can put windows and doors into your house and proceed to interior design.
4. Every house including roof construction is assembled in the assembling shop of the enterprise. There is no seasonal work schedule, and outside weather conditions have no effect on the working material.
5. After dissembling of the house, its wall logs are again manually planed, which ensures a high degree of smoothness and cleanliness for the surface. Wall surface is planned and polished from inside and outside and you do not need to pay for this work again after the house is built.
This optimized technology that we use guarantees a high quality and timely production of objects. At average we produce a 150-200м2 house within 3 months, and it takes up to a month for assembling.
Certain customers seek for a cheaper variant not taking into account the differences in quality and production technologies and finally meet more expenses and economic losses to follow.
We urge you to take some of time to view our technology.
